History of the practice

O’Mahony Pike are an off-shoot of the firm of Delany MacVeigh and Pike which was founded in 1964. This firm thrived in the 1960s and• 1970s and was involved in major residential, educational, commercial and industrial projects. Delany MacVeigh and Pike expanded to become one of the largest practices in Ireland at that time.

James Pike, one of the founder members, set up OMP together with John O’Mahony, a former associate in Delany MacVeigh and Pike.  Since then, the firm has quickly developed into its present-day size of 100+ personnel.  This rapid expansion resulted in a number of premises changes, culminating in the present location in Milltown.

OMP have worked with many of the leading Irish development companies and with most Local Authorities in the state over the years.

We have completed several higher density developments in Dublin.  These range from inner city schemes with densities of up to 400 dwellings / hectare through inner suburban schemes with 70 to 150 dwellings per hectare and suburban schemes consisting mainly of family housing with 40-60 dwellings per hectare.  Most of these projects are mixed use with commercial, social  & retail uses incorporated.

Extensive experience has also been gained in Town Development Plans and Masterplans with an increasing emphasis on Urban Design, integrating new buildings into the existing urban frame work or creating new urban environments on larger sites.

We have collaborated with MacCormac Jamieson Prichard on the Masterplan for Ballymun in Dublin.  We have also collaborated with CZWG on the Pelletstown masterplan. We have extensive experience in system building design in Ireland and the Middle East from timber frame to steel frame and precast concrete.
