John has extensive experience in the design and delivery of Social and Affordable housing over a 25 year period with projects designed for Local Authorities in Dublin, Meath, Louth, Monaghan, Longford, Tipperary, Kerry and Sligo. Competition-win¬ning designs for Innovative Prefabricated Social & Affordable Housing have been completed in Cherry Orchard (7units) and Coultry in Ballymun (10 units). These schemes were part of Public Private Partnership Joint Ventures between Local Authorities and the private sector.
Private sector large-scale developments of over 2000 dwellings have been completed in Lucan and Castleknock, and John headed the team which developed the multi award winning high-density mixed-use development of 00 apartments, retail units and offices at Hanover Quay in Dublin’s South Docklands. Current design work includes the Greystones Marina mixed-use Harbour Development and mixed-use developments in Dublin, Sligo and Belfast.
In 1997 John assembled an Urban Design Regeneration team under the leadership of McCormac Jameson Prichard Architects, which successfully competed for appointment as Masterplanning Consultants for the Regeneration of Ballymun in North Dublin. Following the completion of this project in 1998, he headed up an Urban Design Team in OMP which has, over the past 10 years, informed decision-making on all major projects within the practice and prepared a number of Local Area Plans and Masterplans throughout the country.
