Dennehy's Cross, Cork
This mixed used development at Dennehy's Cross is located at the junction of Magazine Road and Victoria Cross Road in an affluent suburb of Cork.
A simple architectural idea proposes two buildings running along the north and south boundary, forming a courtyard opening out to the green belt to the east while revealing views of the church to the west. The buildings are kinked to exploit the views in both directions while the sloped courtyard allows the green belt to be extended and pulled up to street level.
Local shops, a crèche and a restaurant enliven street level while dual aspect apartments above enjoy south facing living areas and balconies.
