Gresham Metropole, Cork
For this mixed use development the existing 19th century hotel building on MacCurtain Street is to be restored and extended with a glazed atrium connecting to a new block containing bedrooms over conference facilities.
Perimeter buildings in the southern portion of the site follow established urban patterns in the area, with retail units at street level and residential above.
Quayside buildings are stepped in height to relate to the surrounding quayside development and the apartments have all living spaces facing south over the River Lee.
A 12 storey tower demarcates the proposed pedestrian bridge between St. Patrick’s Quay and Merchant’s Quay, making a positive contribution to the roofscape of the city.
