Fenian Street/Holles Street

This project won second place in a Dublin Corporation affordable apartment block design competition in 2001.

The design was approached both as a straightforward planning exercise to maximise the number of units on the available floor plate and as a stylistic exercise to bridge the gap between adjoining 60s social housing and the Georgian architecture of Merrion Square.

To achieve this  similarities are maintained in building height and the solid brick facade but there is also a play between horizontal/vertical, floating/anchored, individualistic/repetitive.
