Herbert Park
The Scheme is defined by two opposing curvilinear residential blocks along the River Dodder and a hotel and office block as gateway elements to the Herbert Park. The buildings offer passive supervision of the spaces and the mix of uses insure all day activity and interaction. The elements converge to edge a new public promenade, linking Ballsbridge Terrace to the new entrance which frames the view to the existing bandstand and pond in Herbert Park.
The project received the Irish Planning Institute URBAN DESIGN AWARD. The jury stated that the promenade has become “an elegant thoroughfare and vibrant meeting place - a place of real civic status!”
The apartments were highly commended for the R.I.A.I. Silver Medal 2001.
