Office: The Chapel
The original 1888 chapel was conserved and was incorporated into the redevelopment of Mount Saint Anne’s. The chapel building was completely reused which is the ultimate form of recycling. The existing timber ribbed ceiling with decorative paintwork and gilded wood panels were left in placed. Original doors, windows, columns, angels, tiled floors, screen were retained in-situ as design features.
Sustainable features that were integrated into the redesign of the chapel into an office:
- Native and drought tolerant plantings requiring no irrigation system
- Bike parking and shower facilities to enable employees to bike to work
- Lighting on motion sensors that turn off when there are no building occupants
- Operable windows provided or increase in ventilation
- Integrating daylight and view to the outdoors in nearly every workstation
- Dual flush toilet fixtures to reduce water consumption & operational cost savings
- Located close to LUAS and bus lines for easy public transportation
- Open office plan to reduce the need for materials in building individual offices
