The high standards continue into the garden. Residents of Hanover Quay are lucky
enough to be able to enjoy a communal garden designed by one of Europe’s best garden
designers – Diarmuid Gavin.
Working with O’Mahony Pike we are proud to say that we have raised the standard of
apartment design and finish in Dublin.

In reviewing redevelopment options for our Barrow Street site two particular challenges
presented; how to deal with:-
The long northern boundary which addresses existing low level housing
How to integrate the Alliance gas holder frame, which is a listed structure
The architects responded to both challenges with an urban design of imagination and flair.
The
east – west axis of the central concourse facilitated the successful orientation of the taller blocks
on a north/ south axis – mitigating the impact of the taller buildings on the existing
neighbourhood. The long facades of the taller buildings were curved to ease their impact.
The use of a glazed cylinder to infill the Alliance gasholder frame provides a simple but effective
backdrop to the frame.
The red frame contrasts well against the glass backdrop and the frame
has thus been retained as an iconic local landmark.
This building also acts as a focal point within
the development.
Our architects worked well with us in evolving construction strategies to suit the use of modular
façade elements, thus simplifying and easing the construction process.
We are very please with the completed development.
